These are few excuses made by people when friends/relatives asked them why hadn’t they voted this year.
1. The ballot is too complicated for a person like me.
2. I don’t like even a single candidate in this years polls.
3. What difference can my one vote make when I know that this party has hired goons for forged voting.
4. These are just municipal elections. I will definately vote in the national elections.
5. My vote doesn’t matter because my choice never wins.
6. My parents never voted and have even taught me not to vote right from childhood.
7. I can’t stand in those long lines and wait as I am allergic to sunlight.
8. I was very busy on polling day. I had to go and complete my pending household duties to keep my promise.
9. I would surely had came for to the polling booth but actually the security was so tight that it was not possible to get out of my house.
10. I am not eligible to vote as I don’t have a valid voting card.

Love these excuses, particularly 1: “the ballot is too complicated for a person like me” (when I vote I vote at my local primary school and we are given big felt tip pens to ‘tick’ the right box).
What about number 11: I thought women (black people/Muslims/atheists etc) couldn’t vote.
